      I assume for the same reason that we talk, they like to communicate! (commooonicate?)

      I think they mostly moo when they’re upset about something, or they’re communicating with their babies (or, at least they’re the times I’ve heard them at their noisiest!). I was recently on a trip where I went through a field full of them, and they ALL started mooing at this strange human walking through their territory… It sounded like something out of Jurassic Park!!
