• Question: What would be the first thing scientists would do if a robot sent by another planet came to find out about Earth, just like the ones we send to Mars?

I guess the first think would be to try and talk to it and ask it questions. If it was sent by aliens they’re probably pretty clever so it might be able to learn our language and communicate. It would be really exciting, as long as it didn’t get some laser guns out and start annihilating us.

I’d try to figure out what it’s masters wanted! Any robots that come here would have traveled much, much, much farther than any robots we’ve ever made. That means that whoever send it it probably super-powerful. So the first thing I think we would want to do is try to figure out what they want! If they sent the robot here to do science (the reason we send our robots elsewhere), then I’d probably start by showing it one of your textbooks!

If it was like the Mars rovers it would be hilarious, can you imagine the news on TV each night, giving updates on where the rover was and what it was doing!

Every country would be arguing about what to do, whether to stop it or allow it to explore. Scientists would want to figure out who sent it and why, if it had cameras we’d be holding up pieces of paper for the aliens to read. The possibilities are endless…
