      Well, we don’t actually expect the Sun to explode. If it did it would be quite a surprise…

      When the Sun gets old and runs out of gas to burn (that’s what it’s doing right now, burning Hydrogen) it will shrink down to what we call a “white dwarf”, which is a really small dense star made mostly of carbon and oxygen.
