Wow, both of those are careers that require a lot of work! Maybe you remember the first thing Mo Farah said after he won the 10,000m, something like “you don’t know how hard I’ve worked for this!” His hard work was obviously worth it though.

I reckon you should keep trying for both, Stacie Powell is an astronomy PhD student here in Cambridge, but she also dived in the Olympics, so she’s proof that both are possible. To be a scientist it will help a lot if you take science subjects at school, and maths is also very useful (particularly for physics) and all scientists need to use statistics. However, even English is important since you need to be able to write down your ideas and communicate them to other scientists.

      good luck!

Being a scientist isn’t easy, it takes a lot of hard work to even be able to call yourself a scientist. But I think the work is rewarding and that’s what matters. An easy job would bore me, I like the challenge of science and I find it really interesting. My tips, like Grant, would be to work hard at school right now. Best of luck to you.

As the other two said, doing either of those jobs takes a lot of hard work, time, dedication and passion. I think as long as you have the motivation and the drive, and know that that is what you truly want to do, then either of those goals are achievable 🙂

To be a great scientist, work hard at school, read lots of books on the subject, and get as involved as you can with any related projects that come up. Best job in the world, in my opinion! 😉
