It really depends on what I’m doing.
If it’s just research then I’ll be at my computer working spacecraft data to work out what was going on with the plasma around the Earth. This often involves bouncing ideas off of colleagues/friends. We also go to lots of interesting seminars where other people in our group or from other institutions tell us about their work.
But I do get out of the office too! I present videos for a YouTube channel about topical Physics (here’s my latest one on comets); I pop up on the news on TV from time to time to discuss science stories (the asteroid & meteor a few weeks ago was a recent example); and I go to schools to teach people about DJing and how the Physics behind it can help you learn, but that the principles behind DJing are also the same as those used by research scientists in lots of different areas.
So as you can see…. rather varied!
-
What I'd do with the prize money:
Go towards my “DJ Physics” project which teaches people the basics of DJing using Physics principles and how they span almost all research areas.
