My favourite as many will have guessed is Einstein. Why? Have you seen his hair? Need I say more? Oh and he came up with the theory of gravity (general relativity) which is the most beautifully constructed theory to explain one of the four fundemental forces of nature and its consequence on the entire universe! Matter e.g Heavy objects like the sun tells space how to bend and space tells matter how to move; like a bowling ball on a trampoline. That’s gravity! Its so elegant; that is what inspired me.

Richard Feynman – The guy has an impressive array of achievements and awards, has worked for some of the best scientific institutes in the world (e.g. CalTech and MIT), was exceptionally important for theories in quantum mechanics… And yet still found time to write several brilliant books and lectures that explain very complicated physics in a much more accessible way.

Brilliant at physics, and loved by both scientists and the public – what we all hope to be like!

Funny, there are a lot of scientists to look up to, but I was inspired to do physics to some degree by Richard Feynman too. Two of the books he wrote made him sound like quite a normal guy that just happened to be a very good scientist (he got a Nobel prize).

      Books:
      Surely You’re Joking Mr Feynman
What Do You Care What Other People Think?
