      My parents, for sure!

But also lots of friends that I work with. One of the things I love about my job is that I have to work with other people to accomplish it. (That’s not true for ALL science, but for a lot of it.) So there are all kinds of people I depend on every day to accomplish my goals. And they depend on me, too! It’s a real team atmosphere, which I enjoy, and it’s led to me having friends I work with every day.

Like Shawn, there are lots of people to credit, from my parents to my friends, my PhD supervisor and my current boss. Things would definitely have been harder if they hadn’t helped, but mostly I got where I am through my own hard work!

Definitely my family, and a few really good friends of mine – without them to drag me through whenever I was struggling with work and feeling sorry for myself about it, I would never have got this far, and I love them for it.

But credit also has to go to that wonderful, natural product called ‘coffee’, without which I could never get through a whole night at a telescope, or a whole day at a desk, without accidentally falling asleep 😉
